The New Face of HOPE?
Stories like this continue to fuel my skepticism about what to expect from the new Obama Administration. We certainly don’t have a “Meet the New Boss, Same as the Old Boss” situation in the transition from Dubya to Obama, but it is hard to come to terms with the news that a popular president who rode into office largely on a promise to end the Iraq War has already begun bombing another country, Pakistan.
Am I missing something here?
Meanwhile, what’s up with the banks? Are we all just holding our breath hoping they don’t collapse? Kinda seems like it.
And, finally, I better stop looking at nutter-butter Tin Foil Hat Society sites like prisonplanet.com so I don’t have to give too much thought to new Congressional bills authorizing the use of newly constructed FEMA camps to house US citizens allegedly in the event of “temporary housing, medical, and humanitarian assistance to individuals and families dislocated due to an emergency or major disaster,” or to “meet other appropriate needs, as determined by the Secretary of Homeland Security”…

Welcome to what I’ve been thinking for a while. Actually, the Pakistan thing was going on under Dubya as well, but it’s still distressing.
Now onto the hope thing. On one hand it’s true Obama will be better than Bush. However, we all know that politicians, even those claiming to have the best intentions, will try to compromise on our rights and what we want to happen unless we constantly put the pressure on them to make sure they do the right thing.
The last thing we can do is just keep quiet and let the government do whatever it feels like. The last eight years have taught us that much.
Sorry for the ran. I was intending for a comment and this came out. Good commentary!
